Teeth Extraction in Temple

If you have a tooth that’s broken, damaged, or decayed, that it cannot be fixed with a filling, crown, or other treatment, you may need tooth extraction procedure. The process of removing one or more teeth doesn’t have to be painful; you have option to keep you comfortable.

Do You Need Tooth Extraction?

Tooth extraction can be needed for several reasons including:

Tooth Extraction with Intravenous Sedation

Dr. Elmore can perform extraction procedures with intravenous sedation. Intravenous administered sedation will significantly reduce any fear or anxiety, completely relax you, and may make you sleepy for the duration of the extraction procedure. Intravenous sedation may also produce either partial or full memory loss of the actual treatment. During intravenous sedation, you will remain conscious and able to understand and respond to requests; however, you may not remember much about the procedure itself. As such, it may appear as if you were asleep during treatment.

Wisdom Tooth – 3rd Molars

Wisdom teeth, or third molars, are prone to problems during eruption, which usually takes place between the ages of 17 and 21. When your adult teeth fully erupt, there is often little room left in the mouth. Since your wisdom teeth are the last to arrive, they may erupt sideways, partially, or impacted beneath the gum line, giving rise to intense pain, infection, and facial swelling.

At this point, wisdom tooth extraction becomes necessary and with modern dental techniques, it should be a comfortable and effective procedure. Though not all wisdom teeth need to be extracted, the removal of the wisdom tooth is needed if the tooth causes inflammation or infection. For instance, if a soft tissue growth over a partially erupted wisdom tooth is formed, bacteria can become trapped and painful infection called pericoronitis can quickly develop.
